About the Belle

My name is Katie, and I am the Belle behind the Blog.  I was born in Kentucky and lived there until I graduated from high school -- that's when I moved a little further south to South Carolina to attend college.

Great hair -- I know...  But go easy on me, it was my 21st birthday!
I loved South Carolina so much, that I decided to stay a while longer AFTER I graduated college (it probably had a little bit to do with the guy I was dating at the time, too).  I began work as an insurance agent and worked there for about a year.  Then, I got a job working with one of my best girlfriends from college in the medical billing/radiology field.  Things were really going well, and I felt so grown up!  But then, my relationship started falling apart.  My college sweetheart (if you can call him that) and I had dated for a total of 5 years when I ended things -- but truth be told, I should have ended them much sooner...  College BF was a few years older than me, and very controlling.  I experienced some things during that relationship that no one should ever go through.  However, I can now look back at those years of my life, and know that I am a much stronger person for having gone through those tough times, and I also know what I will never tolerate in a relationship ever again!

This is what you look like when Cinco de Mayo is the night before 7:30AM graduation!
The next year and a half was spent getting to know myself again -- I began to do things for me, I went out with my girlfriends, I was working hard at my job, and it felt so good.  It had taken a while to get to the point where I was happy with myself and being by myself , but when I finally achieved it, I was loving every minute!  Then, AB came back into my life...  AB and I had known each other for about 5 years before we started dating.  We both had always had an interest in each other, but were never both available at the same time.  When we were, he call me up and asked me out, and it was an instant connection.  After dating about 7 months, he asked me to move in with him.

I had decided to go back to school to get my master's, so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.  I was working and going to school full-time, so things we stressful, but we were making them work.  Then in November 2010, AB interviewed for a position in Dallas, TX.  He ended up getting the job, and was to begin in January.  We set out to move him to Dallas on the 30th of December, and I got to spend 5 days with him in the city that would soon be my new home, too.  But we didn't make it that far.  AB and I called it quits just 3 weeks after he moved to Dallas.  He was focusing on his job and felt that it wasn't fair to me with him being so busy...  And he felt like things were just different...  He loved being in Dallas and working on him.

And so, I was single again, and I still am today.  I am one of those girls who stays in a relationship for a long time (each of my last 3 relationships have been over 2 yrs.) and then stays single for a long time (going over a yr. now), and I'm okay with that!  I think that you need to take time to make sure you're where you wanna be before you invite someone else into your life.

I've since finished up my Master's degree, and am almost finished with my first year teaching at a local high school.  I can honestly say that I LOVE my job.  Teaching 14-18 year-olds is definitely stressful at times, but there is never a dull moment!

At the end of 2011, I really got back into running.  Being in a long-term relationship, and then the subsequent break-up, I had not made fitness a priority in my life, and I needed to make sure I was putting me first.  I had always liked running, but now it just felt different -- it was truely my "me-time" at the end of a stressful day, and gave me time to clear my head.  I began running almost every day and vowed that I would run at least one 5K race every month in 2012, with my sights set on completing my first half-marathon, too.

So that's pretty much got you up-to-speed!  I love to travel, and to learn new things all the time.  I'm creative and crafty, and I love making wreaths and anything with my Cricut.  I have some of the best friends and family that a girl could ask for, and I am just taking it one day at a time.  I have no idea where I'll end up year-to-year, and I kind of like it that way -- the whole world at my doorstep and my feet to take me anywhere I want to go.

So sit back, relax, and stay a while!  You can read about my daily thoughts, ramblings, and adventures (or sometimes, misadventures)...  My hopes, my heartbreaks, my celebrations -- all recorded in real time.  I absolutely love getting to know my fellow bloggettes, and I'm thankful that you've decided to stick around this long!  :)

Until Next Time,
